Phat! Company has been a relatively minor player in the figure industry but that doesn’t mean they don’t do great stuff, in fact far from it, as can be seen in their latest scale figure offering of “Atelier Totori’s” titular character, Totori. Having not played the game, I don’t have a clue about who Totori is or what she does, but from a figure collector’s perspective, this one’s every bit a collector’s dream. In fact, it exudes such a dream-like aura about it which ultimately draws you into buying her. I’m not sure I like the face a lot, but it’s not as bad as it seems to be, but what really makes this figure excel is the wonderful base and the intricate sculpting of Totori’s dress. Phat! really went all on designing the figure to be as close to the source material as possible, which can easily be seen in the complex patterns on her dress and boots. The gem stones and glass flasks are also realistically done to heighten the overall beauty of the figure. Rarely does a figure show as much attention to detail and consistency in quality as this one and collectors would do well to get this one, regardless of whether they’ve played the game or not. Get the figure first, then play the game. After all, figures don’t last long but games do. Totori will be released in April 2012 for a very reasonable price of 9000 yen. Seriously, for the entire package you’re getting, it’s money well spent.
