Some companies just had a another exhibition of upcoming figures at the recently concluded MegaHobby Expo 2011 and from what they’ve presented so far, 2012 is bound to be a very expensive year for collectors due to the sheer number of anticipated figures to be released. A lot of the figures here are from my favorite manufacturer, Alter, while some are from Kotobukiya. I once wrote off that Alter was losing its touch with the lackluster releases of months past, but with the lineup they’ve presented here, I’m glad to say that they’re back on top of their game and we should be seeing even better things from them soon.
As you can see, that’s a lot of figures to take in right there. Some of the more notable ones are Panty and Kneesocks from the controversial hit series “Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.” Since Kneesocks was announced, then it’s safe to say that Alter won’t be making just the protagonists, but their evil counterparts as well, which is sweet. There’s also the much awaited re-release of Louise Gothic Punk Ver., which in the eyes of many (if not all) is the greatest rendition of the pink-haired tsundere ever. Obviously a lot of the thanks for the re-release should go to the soon to be aired final season of the anime. Obviously, since I’m a Nanoha fag, the summer holiday figure is one that I’ll be looking forward to since it retains everything Alter does perfectly with the Nanoha series and puts a unique spin on it, this time visualizing the Ace of Aces in a relaxed and sultry manner. Celty from “Durarara!!” was already announced a while back but seeing the final prototype now, I’m very very amazed at the quality of work Alter put into her. Despite not having a head, the entire figure still screams of sexiness especially since the leather tight suit she’s wearing more than makes up for any absence of facial expression. Oh and one last thing. Remember the “Yu Yu Hakusho” figures I mentioned in the previous post? Apparently, it’s Kotobukiya making them and not MegaHouse so pardon me for the misinformation. All in all, 2012 is a very promising year for excellent figures and take note that the figures mentioned here are most likely just for the first half of the year alone. There’s surely more figures that will tickle our imaginations in the months to come.
