Gift Saber/Extra Retains the Controversial Look, Also That Expensive Price

Satoshi Toda is a divisive name in the figure collecting world. His sculpts are either a breath of fresh air or a blasphemy to original character designers. This debate continues in Gift’s latest pre-order announcement of Toda’s Saber Extra from the PSP game, “Fate/Extra.” Like the previous Sabers that came before (Saber, Saber Alter, Saber Lily), this crimson version sports the same realistic face that’s been a signature of the sculptor since then and has been the source of disagreement for many. However, one of the positive points of this Saber and as with most of the said sculptor’s pieces is the highly intricate detailing of her dress which would rival even the most artistic sculptures. The shiny red painting of her dress highlights the regal and rich nature of the figure and accentuates the premium aura it resonates with. If you’re not a fan of the realistic face, then I’m happy to say that this Saber will also include the standard anime face which should please those who aren’t fond of the avant-garde look. If you’re a fan of unorthodox figures that push the boundaries of what’s possible or simply, a “Fate” franchise fan, then go ahead and pre-order this beauty now. Gift’s Saber Extra will be released in May 2012 for a premium price of 9800 yen.

  1. Has the Saber Alter by gift been released already? I only have the Saber and Saber Lily one :( Even though I’m not a big fan of the realistic face, this is still a must buy in my opinion ^_^
