Here’s a good news to all Dragon Nest players who are willing to spend their money (on top of their monthly in-game cash points) for a collectible so damn worthy of purchase! Check out this very cute and lovely Nendoroid Irine by Good Smile Company!~
She’s not a game character but only an NPC. If you haven’t played the game, don’t look down on her just yet. She could be the game’s most popular mascot (aside from scumbag Berlin) and for the newbie players, as soon you’re inside the game, go meet her immediately. Her “bear” may inspire you to play more in one way or another.
Pre-orders are not open yet but the retail price was announced for Y3500.
This post is made to help collectors with questions regarding the quality of items and to debunk fabricated myths about particular toys and figures. For further reading on this topic, please refer to HS Hobby’s excellent blog posts located here and here.
Your toys and figures? They’re made in China.
We often get asked by new collectors whether or not our figures are made in Japan or if Japan version figures are superior to Asia version figures. This is only natural as all collectors would want to avoid getting something that’s not worth their purchase. To make the long story (or blog post) short, figures are not manufactured in Japan. They’re made in China. But that doesn’t mean that they’re of poor quality or are bootlegs. Here’s why. Continue reading →
Out of all the popular anime shows out there, it’s surprising that the latest Nendoroid figure from GSC is not from any 2D titles, but from the American movie “The Amazing Spider Man” featuring none other than the lead super hero himself, Spider Man (who else could it be?). I’m not really a fan of super heroes or nendoroids, but one thing that I can say about this figure is that it has a really nice overall texture and a very cute diorama. They did especially well with his eyes and the black lining of his tight outfit. He’s also part of the Super Movable nendoroid series, so wouldn’t have any worries on breaking joints for more flexible poses. If you’re a big fan of the series, this is surely a great collectible for you!
GSC 1/8 Shiki Ryogi Garannodou
Kara no Kyoukai
Nov 2008 / Nov 2012
Based from the GSC re-sale poll, she ranked as the top 2 most wanted figure among hundreds of other scaled figures for re-sale. In fact, she’s so rare and popular that the market price for the 1st release figure is now as high as Y16,000 which is a value not so surprising for a very simplistic yet magnificent and elegant figure. Lucky for the collectors who wish to have her, she’s now available again for pre-order with a retail price of only Y6190. Don’t miss your second (and probably the last) chance to grab her!
Pre-orders are now open! (For PH market only): [LINK]
The winning entry for the Nendoroid Snow Miku 2013 design contest has finally been revealed. The theme is that it has to be related to Snow Miku and a bunch of pastries. Over the hundreds of submitted entries that featured generic foreign cakes and desserts, the winning design resembles a traditional Japanese snack, the strawberry mochi. As you can see, she’s also adorned with traditional Japanese clothing and accessories. A very deserving winner, indeed!
She’ll be for sale by 2013 (obviously) as a limited and exclusive nendoroid. Ready your money, folks!
With excellent product offerings throughout the year, Good Smile Company has certainly laid its stake as one of the premier figure companies today. As if their current onslaught of high quality figures wasn’t enough, the popular manufacturer has just announced pre-orders of what looks to be the most visually impressive figure of 2012. Featuring the titular character of the acclaimed “Puella Magi Madoka Magica” series, this figure of Kaname Madoka in her Ultimate form is simply a breathtaking sight to behold. Continue reading →
It’s been a long time since the last episode of Code Geass aired on screen, but that hasn’t stopped Bandai from cashing in on the iconic franchise. With Geass fever bound to hit Japan all over again because of the new Akito of the Exiled movie, it was a good time for the popular toy manufacturer to announce a new figure of the popular and mysterious C.C.. This C.C. is part of Bandai’s chibi-arts toy line which is similar to Good Smile Company’s more lauded Nendoroid figures. As seen in the image above, C.C. comes with a lot of accessories, including the cat, Arthur. She also comes with different face plates so you can play around with her in different scenarios.
Bandai’s chibi-arts C.C. will retail for 3000 yen and is bound for a September 2012 release. Since this is Bandai, expect a timely release for this one. Grab one now!
Accel World is definitely one of the most popular anime title this season. With only about 7 episodes as of date, toy manufactures have already announced and released different merchandise from the title. Kuroyukihime, the petanko leading lady of the series has garnered quite a following already and Good Smile Company plans to take advantage of this by announcing pre-orders of a Nendoroid version of her. Hello everyone, iLikeLolis here reporting for duty. This is my very short and first blog entry featuring Nendoroid Touwa Erio. She is my favorite character right now and maybe forever so expect reviews from me about her every figure :D Ok, here is a short background of the character. One day, she mysteriously disappeared for six months, with no memory of what happened during that time. At the same time, she began having an extreme fascination with aliens, believing herself to be an alien investigator monitoring humans. Following an incident where she broke her leg whilst trying to fly on her bike, she constantly wraps herself inside a futon.
Now that’s done let’s do the review!(Sorry for the crappy pics, the lights were busted and I didn’t purchase a new lamp yet. Please bear with it XD) Continue reading →

After our gigantic Ozine Fest 2012 figure display, you would think that we’d take a break and rest on our laurels, but with so much opportunities in front of us, we simply can’t sit around and let them pass by. So we’re very very happy to announce that Team Onii-chan Figure Display Crew will be having another figure display next month in VocaFusion at the SMX Convention Center Function Room 1 in Pasay City. The said convention will be on May 20, 2012 from 11 am to 8 pm. With the title being Vocafusion, it’s quite obvious that the event will be centered on the Vocaloid franchise. As such, our figure display will be a purely Vocaloid character display. Continue reading →
Good Smile Company has been on a rampage releasing new figures based on popular series and this is evident in their latest announcements for their highly profitable Nendoroid and figma product lines. With the anime “Guilty Crown” having just ended, GSC and Max Factory have catered to the request of fans to release figures of the ever popular vocalist of EGOIST and main heroine, Yuzuriha Inori. When we have anime figure displays, we’re usually given at least a month to prepare for the event. Why a month? Well, consider that not only do we have to invite lenders and record their figures to be displayed in the event, but we also have to layout the name tags for the figures and have further discussions with the organizers with regards to the floor space we have to work with. I think this is why our latest stint at TAGCOM 6 at Robinson’s Place Manila last March 31 to April 1 has got to be one of our most impressive showings yet. It may not have been as grandiose as our previous displays but given the extremely rushed preparation time we had, we’re quite proud of the showcase we had. Continue reading →
The Vocaloid franchise has been around for quite some time and has had its share of figures already, but apart from the immortal Hatsune Miku, there hasn’t really been much in terms of character variety when it came to Vocaloid scale figures. But this time, Max Factory is out to change all of that by finally announcing pre-orders for the Tony Taka designed version of the voluptuous Megurine Luka. Continue reading →
The much-awaited (then again ALL Miku figures are anticipated anyway) latest lump-of-cuteness figure from GSC has finally been previewed courtesy of Mikatan’s Blog, Nendoroid Snow Miku: Fluffy Coat version! Continue reading →
Max Factory has long been one of my favorite manufacturers for releasing some of the best figures in a very attractive 1/7 scale, meaning they’re a bit bigger than your usual 1/8 scaled figures. This trend continues with their latest figure announcement in the form of “OreImo’s” Kuroneko in her Holy Angel Kamineko outfit. Continue reading →
“Bakemonogatari” has always been a source of inspiration for many figure manufacturers, with many of the top companies releasing their own versions of the always popular series. Kotobukiya has been one of them and while their offerings have often gotten the cold shoulder over the ones from Good Smile or Alter, they’re trying to reverse the trend with their latest and most impressive figure yet, Black Hanekawa. Good Smile Company has stepped up its game in recent months with excellent figure offerings but this time, it’s going for the stars with their latest announcement which should blow the minds of every single otaku out there (yes, even those who aren’t into collecting) with its sheer awesomeness and insane engineering. This 1/8 scale figure of Saber from the celebrated anime, “Fate/Zero,” depicts her riding her personal vehicle, the Saber Motored Cuirassier while holding Excalibur at her side. Continue reading →
THE best figure group in the Philippines (and still growing!)
Last December 17, 2011, Team Onii-chan Figure Display Crew had its first ever Christmas party which was held at Yumemiya Japanese Cafe. The party was both a celebration of Team Onii-chan’s various and unparalleled successes over the year and a big thank you to all of our fun-loving members who have all contributed to spreading the joy of figure collecting to the Philippine otaku community. Even if the team has only been around for 7 months, the great turnout for the Christmas party and the friendly and accommodating atmosphere that’s been cultivated into the DNA of the group bodes well for even bigger and better things to come in the future. Good Smile Company has had a history of making historic characters into figures, such as Mickey Mouse, Michael Jackson and to a certain extent, Billy Herrington. For the 20th anniversary of the “Sonic” game series, GSC will be turning the much beloved blue rodent into a Nendoroid. Continue reading →
Satoshi Toda is a divisive name in the figure collecting world. His sculpts are either a breath of fresh air or a blasphemy to original character designers. This debate continues in Gift’s latest pre-order announcement of Toda’s Saber Extra from the PSP game, “Fate/Extra.” Continue reading →
The latest scans from Japan’s highly respected hobby magazine, Hobby Japan, have just come out and as usual, oodles of new figures to look forward to are once again in the spotlight. This issue seems to be much more interesting than the last two were, particularly due to the presence of very recognizable characters most otaku identify with.
