Final Display Line up + Reminders for Ingress (Otaku Expo Reloaded 2012)

406368_10150980306201848_33812565_n

For all Team Onii-chan members, figure lenders and those who will be guarding the display, here are some reminders to take note of. This primarily concerns the ingress and egress schedules, duties and conduct in the display area.

Display Line Up:

As much as we want to accommodate everyone who are willing to lend their figures, we only have limited space for this event. With this, the final lineup is posted here.

INGRESS

1. Ingress will be on August 3, 2012 from 6pm to 8:30 pm at the SM Megatrade Hall.

Once you arrive at the event area, please immediately look for Onii-chan or scary.chii and sign on our records. This will help us take note of the figures you’ve brought for the display. For new lenders: please text us at 09174777595 once you’ve arrived at the venue so we can meet up with you .

2. For those who can bring risers (acrylic preferably), please do bring them to the ingress so we can prepare them inside the cabs immediately.

EVENT PROPER

1. Please take care of your belongings. Team Onii-chan will not be responsible for any losses due to carelessness (such as leaving any expensive items unattended to). Your PSPs, DSLRs and such items are your responsibility. If you lose them because you left them somewhere, do not fault us for it.

2. Do not bring food inside the event hall.

3. Always keep a friendly disposition. Do not incite fights with your fellow members or with the public. There may be times when the crowds are a bit rowdy so we ask for your patience in dealing with them.

4. We only have 6 IDs given out by the Ozine Management which will be used by the admins and few volunteers who will guard the display area. As a result, you will be required to purchase tickets to be able to enter the event area.

EGRESS

1. Egress will start at 7:30 pm of August 5. If you absolutely need to leave earlier than that, please inform any of the Team Onii-chan admins (Onii-chan, scary.chii, kettenkrad or Murakami Night) before doing so.

2. You can leave your boxes at the display area but please be mindful that space is quite limited at the display area. Keep them as organized as possible

We hope to see you there! :)

As with all our other events, we shall be opening shifting posts for guarding the figure display area at Otaku Expo Reloaded 2012 on August 4-5, 2012 at the SM Megatrade Halls. Since this is a 2 day event, there will be a total of 6 shifts with each day having a morning and an afternoon shift. We highly encourage you to be a part of our crew since this is also an excellent way to not only make sure our figures are safe and sound, but also to meet our current Team Onii-chan members and to make new friends :)  Continue reading

New “Code Geass: Akito The Exiled” Anime Promotional Video Leaked

It has been a while since we’ve heard anything about the new “Code Geass” anime. I actually thought that it might be one of those projects that were only referred to in passing and destined to be forgotten by the producers, but thankfully, we finally have concrete evidence that is is coming soon. A random search on Youtube yielded this video preview, showing a lot of new faces and a lack of old ones but retaining the signature CLAMP art style and the roller-blading high speed Knightmare Frame battles we’ve come to know of. Yup, this is indeed the new “Geass” anime and it will be entitled “Code Geass: Akito the Exiled.” It’s bound to be released this 2012. An exact date hasn’t been given yet but considering that a promotional video has already leaked, it’s airing might be sooner than we expect. Can’t wait for this one.

Max Factory Holy Angel Kamineko is Truly Heaven Sent

Max Factory has long been one of my favorite manufacturers for releasing some of the best figures in a very attractive 1/7 scale, meaning they’re a bit bigger than your usual 1/8 scaled figures. This trend continues with their latest figure announcement in the form of “OreImo’s” Kuroneko in her Holy Angel Kamineko outfit. Continue reading

“Kamen Rider vs. Super Sentai” Movie Announced, Tokusatsu Fans Cry Manly Tears

In recent years I’ve found myself watching tokusatsu shows and have grown fond of them. My childhood years were spent idolizing heroes such as Kamen Rider Black (and RX) and Super Sentai teams such as Maskman, Bioman, Turboranger, Fiveman, Jetman just to name a few. As I grew up though, I lost touch with the succeeding series until two years ago when out of curiosity, I watched Kamen Rider Decade. Why watch again? Well, mainly due to the gimmick that he can use the powers of the previous Riders, which piqued my interest. The same can be said for this year’s Super Sentai offering, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. The ability to use the powers of their predecessors immediately hooked me into the franchises once again. This is why I’m extremely excited of the news that a Kamen Rider vs. Super Sentai movie is in the works since it’s basically unheard of before. The thought of two of the most iconic franchises in Japanese pop culture history joining forces in one mega movie is every tokusatsu fan boy’s wet dream.

What’s even more surprising is that the lead characters for the movie will be Kamen Rider Decade and the Gokaiger team. Gokaiger I can understand since they’re the featured Sentai team as of the moment (despite the succeeding team already being revealed), but Decade was out of the left field. I thought that Fourze (this year’s Rider) would’ve been tagged as the main Rider for this but apparently Toei’s willing to forgive Decade for his poorly written plot and bring him and his imbalanced powers back. So far, a May 2012 release date is confirmed and that the Den-Liner crew will be returning, hinting at Kamen Rider Den-O having a big role here again. The casts of Kamen Rider Fourze and Tokumei Sentai Gobuster (the new squad after Gokaiger) are also appearing. It’s kind of weird how they’d fit into a movie with Decade and Gokaiger as leads, but whatever. Japan’s in for a hell of a 2012 with so much good stuff for otaku to dig in, but this one might just top them all.

Confirmed cast for Kamen Rider vs. Super Sentai “Super Hero Taisen” (tentative title):

  • Masahiro Inoue (Decade)
  • Ryota Ozawa (GokaiRed)
  • Rina Akiyama (Naomi from Den-O)
  • Kenjiro Ishimaru (Owner/Stationmaster from Den-O)
  • Momotaros

New Rurouni Kenshin OVA Trailer Shows Ridiculously Designed Characters, Saitoh Undergoes Plastic Surgery

Hobby Japan January 2012 Scans (Max Factory Luka WOOT!!!)

The latest scans from Japan’s highly respected hobby magazine, Hobby Japan, have just come out and as usual, oodles of new figures to look forward to are once again in the spotlight. This issue seems to be much more interesting than the last two were, particularly due to the presence of very recognizable characters most otaku identify with.

“Street Fighter 4 Volt” On Sale at the App Store for $0.99, iOS Peeps Get Downloading

Almost everyone’s on a Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 craze right now and rightfully so, as the game looks stunning and brimming with everything that gamers love about the franchise, but unfortunately it’s console-bound so unless you’re lugging around your PS3 with you, you can’t play it outside your home. Luckily, Capcom’s heard your pleas for a handheld dose of virtual violence and has dropped the price of its highly acclaimed fighting game, “Street Fighter 4 Volt,” to a delectable $0.99. Yes, for just roughly Php 45.00, you can enjoy one of the best fighting games (if not the best) on a handheld device ever. I’ve personally played the game and it’s quite amazing how responsive it is for a touch-based fighter. What’s even better is that if you’ve got a friend who also has the game on his iOS device, you can play with him over Bluetooth or WiFi for bragging rights over who’s got the better gaming chops.  Unfortunately, the game’s only on iOS so if you’re wielding one of those smexy iPhones, iPod Touches or iPads, head on to the App Store and download the 400 mb game quickly before the sale is over. If I remember right, the game normally retails for $4.99 so the price drop really is a sweet deal already. It’s quite rare for full-fledged console-quality games on the App Store to have these kinds of price drops so take advantage of it while you still can. Also, the purchase is one time only so future updates to the game (if you’ve downloaded it) are free. For the Android or PSP hopefuls, sorry but it looks like you’re in tough luck for this one.

Figure Review: Wave Beach Queens Kirino Kousaka

Hello again blog readers.
I’m back with a review of one of the figs I’ve acquired last UP AME and she made her debut there as well.

This is Wave’s version of Kirino Kousaka from Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai.

She was released last May 2011 at the SRP of 3,990 Japanese Yen.  Continue reading

“Madoka Magica” Trilogy Films Confirmed, All Hail the Goddess!!!

Newtype magazine just revealed that there would be a new “Fate/Zero” project in the works, but an even bigger announcement from the respected source is that there will be a trilogy of films for the blockbuster mahou shoujo anime, “Puella Magi Madoka Magica.” Continue reading

New “Fate/Zero” Project to be Announced, Please Make it a Movie!!!

Despite my apparent disdain for the Saber figure rehashes and overpopulated releases by figure companies, I must admit that I’m currently hooked to watching “Fate/Zero” and while there’s a number of really really great anime this season (more than my fingers could count actually), “Fate/Zero’s” right up there with the best of them. This is probably why I’m stoked about the recent news that apart from the excellent anime showing now, there’s going to be another project in store for it, which will be revealed later this week on Kadokawa Shoten’s Monthly Newtype magazine. I’m guessing this will be a movie at best; maybe make the climactic final battle into one serious balls-to-the-wall gift to the fans of the franchise. Now that would be something to behold considering the 4th Grail War is in my opinion, much more epic in scale than the somewhat more muted 5th one (case in point: Kiritsugu just owns Shiro), but hey at this point, anything Urobuchi throws at us, I’m all for it.

Oh, right. In case you didn’t know, the current “Fate/Zero” TV anime will be split into two parts, with the second part to be aired in April next year; kinda’ like how Sunrise did it with “Geass” and “Gundam OO.”

Anime Festival Asia 2011 Exclusive Goods Make Me Jelly

November is just around the corner and that means lucky people who so happen to be in Singapore on the 11th to the 13th will finally be able to experience the joy that is Anime Festival Asia 2011 (AFA 2011). Of course, being one of those unlucky ones to be stuck here in the Philippines, I’m jelly as hell, not only because of the special guest appearances (May’n, LiSA, FLOW, etc.) and of course the much anticipated booths of Good Smile Company and Kotobukiya, but also because of the limited edition AFA-only merchandise by notable character goods companies like Cospa and Muse, Continue reading

Movic Sells “Mawaru Penguindrum” Hat, Wants to Turn Your Imoutos Into Fabulous She-Penguins

“Mawaru Penguindrum” has been one of the more out-of-this-world anime offerings this year, crafted by none other than Kunihiko Ikuhara of “Utena” and “Sailor Moon” fame. The story revolves around the Takakura twins as they search for the mysterious Penguindrum to keep their sister, Himari, alive. All the while, however, Himari sometimes falls into a tranced state where she’s possessed by a mysterious penguin hat and suddenly becomes fabulousness personified. Think “Star Driver,” only this time as a girl and with a much more irritable personality. This magical transformation has delighted fans worldwide and Movic, maker of high-quality anime character goods, is caving in to the demand of fans for more “Penguindrum” items with their latest release of Himari’s mysterious penguin hat. Pre-orders have just started for this one of a kind item which will cost 2625 yen. The item is already available at your favorite online store and an exact release date of January 19, 2012 has been mentioned. This will likely be very popular not only among the anime’s niche fan base, but with cosplayers as well who wish to initiate their own Survival Strategy.

New Black Rock Shooter TV Anime Promotional Video Makes Us Wish January Was Here Already

Two months ago, it was reported that a new Black Rock Shooter TV series will be broadcast in January 2012 next year. Other than being shown on Fuji TV’s NoitaminA block and that the show will be made under a new production crew, there hasn’t been any news about it since until now. The new anime’s web site has been updated with a new promotional video to make BRS fans salivate while waiting for its actual air date. Some unconfirmed reports also say that the anime will only last for 8 episodes *groan* but I certainly hope it lasts for more than that. Anyways, I’m not the biggest BRS fan out there, and trust me when I say there’s probably a million fans out there who’re much more devoted to the franchise, but I’d have to say I’m pretty excited about this new project. The show looks to have excellent production values and being on the NoitaminA time slot means that we won’t be getting any of the typical moe, ecchi, harem and other fan service shit we’re already numb to seeing.

Volks Mio Sakamoto Slices and Dices Your Pre-order Plans, Make Extra Room For That Poster

The “Strike Witches” anime might have finished airing a long time ago but the figures for it show no signs of stopping. Alter and Kotobukiya are the known names churning Witches faster than a bullet train, but Volks is also in the business of making them although at a much slower pace and working on a smaller scale. So far, we’ve seen their Yoshika and now, they’re ready to roll out the ever-popular Mio Sakamoto. Continue reading

“Kore wa Zombie desu ka” Light Novel to Come With Episode 0 of Season 2, More Cross Dressing Awaits

The Kadokawa web site has confirmed that the 10th volume of the “Kore wa Zombie desu ka” light novel series will include an anime DVD containing Episode 0 of the much awaited 2nd anime season. This will be the 2nd original anime DVD bundled with a light novel for the series and the limited edition pack will include a specially illustrated book cover and an exclusive tail case containing the DVD. It will be released in April 2012 for 3500 yen.

Being a huge fan of the first season, I’m definitely excited about this news as it means that the 2nd season is getting closer to airing. While the first season could’ve stood on its own already, given that there was closure to the anime storyline, a 2nd season is much appreciated especially since it was a hit among fans for its comedic tone, range of anime girl stereotypes and of course, lead hero Ayumu’s much talked about forays into cross dressing as a mahout shoujo.
